Peace Out, 2017.

More Peace in 2018.

peace from within

Peace of Mind.

PEACE. Ahhhh…Like any year, 2017 had its ups and downs. I experienced some extreme lows, periods of major discomfort and too many “WTF?!” moments to mention. But the highs far outweighed the lows and I’ve gained some peace of mind from the lessons life threw my way in 2017.

Highlights.

When life is good, celebrate. Big or small, I make applauding my accomplishments a regular practice. Some things I’m proud of from 2017:

Launching Your Fitness DNA and sharing how wellness became my passion.

Booking a national commercial for a MAJORRRR brand.

Writing my first play: “Soul in Suburbia”, an autobiographical theater experience. The play is part of Collaboraction’s Encounter Festival, a Mixed Medium Explorative Series on Racism in Chicago taking place in January and February.

These are some wins! I only accomplished them because I let go, trusted myself and faced my fears and insecurities.

Paying Peace Forward.

I’ll leave you with this round up of the lessons and blessings I got present to in 2017. Take my advice for whatever it’s worth to ya:

Let things end. Relationships, partnerships, roles, whatever. Don’t be afraid to walk away with grace.

Never let anyone tell you what you’re good at. Ladies: especially men.

Hold yourself and the world around you accountable.

If you don’t have friends that can tell you they love you or they’re proud of you, consider leveling up in 2018.

Writing is therapeutic. Don’t worry if you’re good. Just write down your thoughts sometimes. Manifest.

Roll with it. Let life flow. Resisting just slows down the process.

Don’t bank on what’s not there.

If you loan your friends money, consider it a gift and forget about it.

Be careful with people who don’t know how to make a decision without seeking the opinions of others. That will be the first person to make a bad decision with, about or for you.

Everyone wasn’t raised like you. Manage your expectations. Either have compassion, or distance yourself from their brand of crazy.

This is becoming trite — but for real, NEVER DIM YOUR LIGHT TO MAKE MEDIOCRE MOTHERFUCKERS FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEIR MEDIOCRITY AND LACK OF PASSION.

Self-care is a top priority. No exceptions, no excuses.

Happy New Year! Make 2018 GREAT. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. I’m looking forward to all that 2018 has in store for Your Fitness DNA.
